Candles & Troubleshooting
Why won't my wooden wick stay lit?
Wooden wicks sometimes need a little extra care. Once your candle has cooled completely, gently remove any loose, charred wood and trim the wick to approximately 1/8 inch before relighting.
Why is my candle tunneling?
Tunneling happens when your candle melts down the center, leaving wax around the edges. To help prevent this, allow your candle enough time to develop a wider melt pool, especially during the first few burns. Never burn your candle for longer than 4 hours at a time.
A small amount of wax around the edges is normal and may melt during subsequent burns.
Why is my candle producing soot or a large flame?
A large flame or excessive soot can occur when your wooden wick is too long or your candle is exposed to drafts. If you notice either, extinguish your candle and allow it to cool completely. Gently remove any loose, charred wood and trim the wick to approximately 1/8 inch before relighting.
Always burn your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from fans, vents, and open windows. If excessive smoking or an unusually large flame continues after trimming, discontinue use and contact us for assistance.
Why can't I smell my candle?
Fragrance strength can vary depending on the scent, room size, and airflow. Some fragrances are naturally softer and more subtle, while others are more noticeable.
For the best fragrance experience, allow your candle time to develop a melt pool and enjoy it in an appropriately sized room away from drafts. You may also become accustomed to a scent after being around it for a while, making it seem less noticeable.
If your candle consistently produces little to no fragrance, please contact us. We're happy to help troubleshoot!
Why does my candle wax look uneven or discolored?
Our candles are handcrafted using a coconut soy wax blend, which can naturally develop slight variations in texture and appearance.
You may notice uneven surfaces, small imperfections, or subtle discoloration after your candle has cooled. These are common characteristics of natural wax blends and generally do not affect your candle's fragrance or performance.
Each Welsh Collective candle is handcrafted in small batches, so slight variations are part of what makes each one unique!
How long should I burn my candle?
For the best experience, we recommend burning your Welsh Collective candle for approximately 2–4 hours at a time, never exceeding 4 hours.
Before each burn, trim your wooden wick to approximately 1/8 inch and remove any loose, charred wood. Always place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts, flammable materials, children, and pets.
Never leave a burning candle unattended, and discontinue use when approximately 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom of the container.
Car Diffusers
How do I use my car diffuser?
Enjoying your Welsh Collective car diffuser is easy!
1. Carefully unscrew the wooden cap and remove the inner plastic stopper.
2. Securely replace the wooden cap.
3. Briefly tilt the bottle to allow the fragrance mixture to absorb into the wooden cap.
4. Return the bottle upright and wipe away any excess liquid.
5. Hang your diffuser securely in a location where it won't obstruct your view, interfere with driving, or touch your vehicle's interior surfaces.
To refresh the fragrance, briefly tilt the bottle again as needed. Avoid oversaturating the wooden cap, as fragrance liquid may leak and damage vehicle surfaces.
Keep away from children and pets, and avoid direct sunlight or extreme heat.
Why isn't my car diffuser very strong?
Fragrance strength can vary depending on the scent, temperature, airflow, and personal preference. Some fragrances are naturally lighter and more subtle, while others have a stronger scent.
If your diffuser's fragrance seems to be fading, briefly tilt the bottle to allow the fragrance mixture to refresh the wooden cap. Return the bottle upright and wipe away any excess liquid.
Keep in mind that your nose can become accustomed to a fragrance over time, making it seem less noticeable even when it's still present.
Avoid repeatedly saturating the wooden cap, as this may cause leaking. If you're having trouble getting fragrance from your diffuser, please contact us. We're happy to help!
Why is my car diffuser leaking?
Leaking can occur if the wooden cap becomes oversaturated, the bottle is tilted too frequently, or the cap isn't securely tightened.
To help prevent leaks, keep your diffuser upright, make sure the cap is secure, and only briefly tilt the bottle when refreshing the fragrance. Always wipe away excess liquid before hanging it in your vehicle.
Fragrance liquid can damage plastic, leather, vinyl, painted surfaces, and other vehicle materials. If a spill occurs, carefully clean the affected area immediately according to the vehicle manufacturer's care instructions.
If your diffuser continues leaking despite proper use, discontinue use and contact us so we can help!
How long do car diffusers last?
The lifespan of your Welsh Collective car diffuser depends on several factors, including the fragrance, temperature, airflow, and how frequently you refresh the wooden cap.
Some fragrances may remain noticeable longer than others, and warmer temperatures can cause the fragrance mixture to evaporate more quickly.
To get the most out of your diffuser, keep the bottle upright and refresh the wooden cap only when needed. Avoid excessive tilting or oversaturating the cap, as this can lead to leaking and unnecessary fragrance loss.
For safety, keep your diffuser away from direct sunlight and extreme heat.
Can I leave my car diffuser in a hot car?
Car interiors can become extremely hot, especially during warmer months. Excessive heat can cause fragrance liquid to evaporate more quickly, intensify the scent, and increase the risk of leaks.
To help protect your diffuser and vehicle, keep the bottle out of direct sunlight and away from hot surfaces. We recommend removing your diffuser from the vehicle during periods of extreme heat.
Always keep your diffuser upright and ensure the fragrance liquid does not come into contact with your vehicle's interior surfaces, as it may cause damage.
Where should I hang my car diffuser?
Your Welsh Collective car diffuser should be hung securely in a location where it won't obstruct your view, interfere with driving, or come into contact with your vehicle's interior surfaces.
Avoid placing your diffuser near air vents, electronic components, or areas exposed to direct sunlight and excessive heat.
Always keep the bottle upright and make sure the wooden cap is securely tightened. Fragrance liquid may damage plastic, leather, vinyl, and painted surfaces if spilled.
Please follow your local laws regarding hanging accessories inside your vehicle.
